Iriney Santos da Silva, simply known as Iriney, is a Brazilian footballer who currently features for the Spanish club Almeria. He plays as a midfielder.
Iriney made his professional debut for the Brazilian side Nacional Manauense in 1998 and then played for Sao Caetano between 2000 and 2002. In the summer of 2002 he made the long and bold move to Spain and to Rayo Vallecano but didn’t manage to settle and played just 14 league matches. In the summer of 2005 he was signed by Galician club Celta de Vigo and was a regular in his two seasons for Celta.
At the end of the 2006-2007 season when Celta de Vigo got relegated from La Liga to the Segunda Division in Spain, Iriney decided to leave the club but couldn’t find any club which was ready to take him on board. But ultimately in January 2008, Almeria signed him as a free agent but he didn’t play any match due to lack of match fitness.
