Jermaine Jones is a professional football player playing for FC Schalke 04. This defensive midfielder is a German born American international soccer player, who also plays for the United States national team.

He started his youth career with SV Bonames, moving to FV Bad Vilbel team at the age of 13 in 1994. In 1995, he was purchased by the team of Eintracht Frankfurt to play in their academy. He spent the next five years, learning and even building the quality of the game, making his first appearance in the Eintracht Frankfurt II team in 2000-01, with 25 appearances and 8 goals.

In 2001, he made his step up to the main squad, making 46 appearances for the Frankfurt senior team over the next two years in 2001-03 season. He scored 7 goals as he played as a central defensive midfielder.

He played exceptionally well when he was purchased by the team of Bayer Leverkusen, though his first team chances were scarce. He got relegated to play most of the times in 2004-05 Bundesliga season for the team of Bayer Leverkusen II second string. He re-signed for the team of Eintracht Frankfurt on loan basis for six months after he signed for Bayer Leverkusen. The following season, in 2005-06, he suffered a serious leg injury in the first half of the last match of the season. The next two seasons, he established himself as a quality player, becoming captain of the squad.

It was in 2007 when he joined the team of FC Schalke 04. By 14 January 2011, Blackburn Rovers, an English Premier League team were interested in signed Jones on loan basis, with a view of signing the contract permanent at the end of the season. Four days later, it was confirmed by this club that Jones had definitely signed with this club on loan basis until the end of the season.

By 23rd January 2011, he made his Premier League debut with 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion, completing the full 90 minutes and even receiving the man of the match award on his first appearance for the club. This way, Jones has had various opportunities to prove himself to the teams and improvising his position skills as well.

The major teams that he had been a part of include SV Bonames, FV Bad Vilbel, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen II, Schalke 04 and many others.
