Born on 14 December 1985 in Truskolasy, Jakub Błaszczykowski most popularly known as Kuba is a Polish footballer playing as a midfielder for Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund. Błaszczykowski is also a captain of Poland National football team.
Błaszczykowski commenced his career in 1993 with Raków Częstochowa in 1993. He has been in the company for next 10 years till 2003. In 2003 he moved to Górnik Zabrze. The same year, he joined KS Częstochowa and continued playing in the polish league till 2004 before joining Wisła Kraków. In Wisła Kraków, he made his first team appearance on 20 March 2005 against Polonia Warsaw. After that he signed a four year contract with the Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund where he made the maximum number of 125 appearances and scored 8 goals.
Błaszczykowski has debuted internationally for the Poland National Football team on 28 March 2006 against Saudi Arabia. He has also appeared in the Poland National Football team in Under-19, Under-21 level and Poland B.
He was a part of Borussia Dortmund squad when it won the German Supercup in 2008. He has also earned various achievements including Ekstraklasa Midfielder of the Year in 2006, Polish footballer of the year in 2008, 2010, Footballer of the year by the readers of “Sport” in 2008 and 2010 and Borussia Dortmund Player of the Year in 2008.
