Patrick Owomoyela is a football player from Germany born on 5 November 1979 in Hamburg to a Nigerian father and a German mother. He is currently playing for Borussia Dortmund for Football Bundsliga. He has previously played for major professional teams lilke VfL Osnabrück, Lüneburger SK, Arminia Bielefeld, SC Paderborn 07 and Werder Bremen. Patrick has also been capped by the Germany team at an international level. Moreover, at the 2005 FIFA Confederation Cup, he was the member of the squad .

Owomoyela began his professional career in 2000 with Lüneburger SK and has made 34 appearances in one year. In 2001 he moved to VfL Osnabruck and again got transferred to the SC Paderborn 07 in 2002 in which he has scored 4 goals in 23 appearances. He has scored maximum number of 8 goals in 63 appearances in Arminia Bielefeld in 2003. He remains with the same for next two years and in 2005 he switched to Werder Bremen making 50 appearances.

Patrick made his debut for the national team of Jurgen Klinsmann in an Asian tour, where he played in almost 90 minutes. This was a victorious match of 3-0 over Japan team in Yokohama. Moreover, Patrick even appeared against South Korea and Thailand team, though he was overlooked for the Germany's World Cup final men squad. However, so far, he was not called up again to play for playing for this team.


He has also represented the National team of Germany for two years from 2004-2006 making 11 appearances. Along with football, Owomoyela also plays basketball and was a basketball player in the German regional league prior to his switching to football full time.
