Renato Augusto is a professional football player playing for Bayer 04 Leverkusen as an attacking midfielder. His full name is Renato Soares de Oliveira Augusto and the teams that he had been a part of include Flamengo, Bayer Leverkusen and Brazil team.

Renato was called as one of the best products of the youth academy of Flamengo in recent years, close to a deal with the team of Palermo in 2007. He has a unique style of playing combined with decisive passes having good control of the ball, amazing pace and dribbling efforts, leading him to being capped for the national team at the U20 level. However, his career with the team of Flamengo had been plagued by injuries. He signed for Bayer Leverkusen for an unknown fee, which is assumed to be 10 million euros, of which 60% is retained by Flamengo team. The remaining 40% were owned by the Traffic and MFD investment groups, paying 1.5 million euros each for a share in Augusto's transfer fee in 2008.

He made an instant impact, becoming one of the fan favorites with his swiftness, teamwork, awareness and his technical abilities. Renato usually plays on the right side but as Leverkusen team is plagued by injuries, he plays in the hole, behind the striker. He is a player dictating the tempo, and a really amazing player for keeping the ball in possession. In 2010, the team of Manchester City were interested in selecting him, but the fee of 14 million pounds was too small to interest the team staff in selling one of their key players.

Renato scored three times for a one goal lead victory, maintaining a stellar form and harassing opposition defenders. He scored a memorable score with a match victory in 82nd minute against FSV Mainz team.
