Matthieu Delpierre is a professional football player playing for VfB Stuttgart. He plays for Lille OSC as a center back and was also the captain of the VfB Stuttgart team. He has so far represented France team at U18, U20 and at U21 levels, making professional appearances during the UEFA European U21 Football Championship in 2002.
During his first season with the team of Lille, Matthieu made little appearances for the club, helping the promotion of the team to Ligue 1. He became regular player in the second season with the club, helping them to secure third spot and for UEFA Champions League qualification. He was later signed by VfB Stuttgart team on a free transfer after the previous team refused to grant him a contract extension.
He was of a vital importance in the success of Stuttgart team in the 2006-07 DFB-Pokal, with 3 goals leading up to the finals, which they lost to Nuremberg. On 19 May 2007, Delpierre won the German Bundesliga with Stuttgart team.
Teams like Marseille, Saint-Etienne, Bayern Munich and Arsenal observed his defensive performances. Till the summer of 2012, he has extended his contract with the team of Stuttgart.
