Davide Santon is a young Italy international football player who currently features for the Premier League club Newcastle United. He plays as a full-back and is considered as one of the best in his position in Europe.

Santon commenced his professional club football career at Inter Milan and developed at the club’s youth academy. He made his debut for the Nerazzurri in a Copa Italia match against Roma on January 21, 2009 and four days later played his first Serie A fixture against Sampdoria. His Champions League debut came against Manchester United.

Santon retained his place in Inter’s starting lineup for the remainder of the 2008-09 campaign, helping the Italian giants clinch the Serie A title. The following season he struggled with injury for much of the campaign and then lost his place in the first half of the 2010-11 season.

Santon played on loan for Cesena in the second half of the 2010-11 campaign and the following summer Inter sold him to Newcastle United for a reported £5.3 million. At St James’ Park, Santos regained his old form and rediscovered his confidence, soon establishing himself in Alan Pardew’s starting lineup.

Santon made his international debut for Italy against Northern Ireland in a friendly international on June 6, 2009. He was 18 at the time. He was part of the Italy team that played at the 2009 Confederations Cup.
