James Perch is an English football player who currently features for the Premier League club Newcastle United. He is a versatile player who can play either as a defender or as a defensive midfielder.
Perch developed at the youth academy of Nottingham Forest and made his debut for the first team in 2004. He was on their books until 2010, scoring 12 goals in 190 league matches and establishing himself as one of the best players in the lower divisions of English football.
His performances at Forest caught the eye of Newcastle, who signed him in the summer of 2010 for around £1 million on a four-year contract.
However, Perch has failed to make himself anything more than a back-up at St James’ Park, making just over 60 appearances for Newcastle since his move there.
