Sergi Roberto is a young Spanish football player who currently features for the Spanish and European giants Barcelona. He plays as a midfielder and is rated as one of the most promising players in the country.
Roberto joined Barcelona’s La Masia youth academy from Gimnastic in 2006 aged 14 and progressed the through the club’s youth ranks. In 2009 he was promoted to the Barca B team and he has been with them since.
On November 10, 2010 Roberto made his debut for the Barcelona first team,against Ceuta in a Copa del Rey clash and in April 2011 he made his debut in the Champions League.
On May 21, 2011 Roberto played in La Liga for the first time in his career, playing the whole 90 minutes in a 3-1 victory over Malaga. He was part of the Barca side that won La Liga in 2011 and 2013, and the Champions League in 2010-11.
Roberto currently features for the Spain Under-21 side, having represented his country at the Under-17, Under-19 and Under-20 levels.
