Ángel Di María is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a right winger for the Argentine Primera División club Rosario Central. He also plays for the Argentina National Team.

Ángel Fabián Di María was born on February 14, 1988, in Rosario, Argentina.

The Argentine winger stands 178 cm (5 ft 10 in) tall. He is affectionately nicknamed "Fideo" (Noodle) in Spanish due to his slender physical build. He holds dual citizenship, possessing an Italian passport courtesy of his ancestry.

A devout Roman Catholic, Di María has faced significant personal challenges, including the premature birth of his daughter Mia, who survived following intensive care treatment. He has been married to Jorgelina Cardoso since 2011, and they have two daughters.

His life off the pitch has occasionally been turbulent, marking him as a victim of attempted burglaries at his homes in both England and France.

Career

Di María began his professional journey with Rosario Central before rising to prominence in Europe with Benfica, where he helped end a five-year league title drought.

His performances earned him a move to Real Madrid in 2010, where he played a pivotal role in winning La Liga and the 2013–14 UEFA Champions League. After a brief, record-breaking stint at Manchester United, he joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2015.

In France, he cemented his legacy as a club legend, becoming PSG's all-time leader in assists and winning five league titles along with multiple domestic cups. He helped the club reach its first-ever Champions League final in 2020. After spells at Juventus and a return to Benfica, he returned to his boyhood club, Rosario Central, in 2025, where he notably won the Primera División title.

Internationally, Di María is an icon of Argentine football with 145 caps. He scored the gold-medal-winning goal at the 2008 Olympics and the winning goal in the 2021 Copa América final.
