Jeremy Mathieu

Jeremy Mathieu is a France international football player who currently features for the Spanish football club Valencia. He plays as a left-back.

Mathieu commenced his professional club football career at French club Sochaux in 2002 and played for them until 2005, scoring 10 goals in 86 league matches.

In 2005 Toulouse signed Mathieu from Sochaux following his impressive performances over the past two seasons. He continued to perform at his best over the next four years, scoring five goals in 113 Ligue 1 appearances.

Mathieu established himself as one of the better left-backs in Europe and Valencia came calling in 2009. In June of that year, the Frenchman became Unai Emery’s first signing of the summer and signed a three-year contract effective from July 1, 2009.

Mathieu has since gone on to establish himself as one of the key players in the Valencia lineup and has made over 75 La Liga appearances.

Mathieu made his international debut for France in November 2011 against the USA in a friendly international.
