A professional German footballer, Stefan Reinartz is a defensive midfielder who can also double-up as a defender. His major teams include Heiligenhauser SV, Bergisch Gladbach 09, Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Nuremberg as well.
He began his playing career at the Heiligenhauser SV in 1993. For five seasons, he was a part of the Heiligenhauser team before moving on to the Bergisch Gladbach 09 youth system.
After a single season, Reinartz moved onto the Bayer Leverkusen youth setup, which acted like his finishing school. Already playing for the German Under-17 and Under-20 national team by this time, Reinartz was part of the Leverkusen reserve team in 2007. Regularly appearing for the team since 2007, he moved onto the first team squad in 2008.
After a loan spell at FC Nuremberg, in 2009, Reinartz returned to Leverkusen and has become a regular part of the first team squad. At the international level, Reinartz moved to the U-21 squad in 2009, before making his full fledged, senior team debut in 2010.
