Jose Maria Romero Poyon, commonly known simply as Jose Mari, is a Spanish footballer currently playing for the Spanish club Real Betis. He plays as a striker.
Jose Mari graduated from the Sevilla FC youth academy and made his debut for the club in the 1996-1997 season and played 21 league matches that season, scoring 7 goals. After one season, he was signed by Atletico Madrid for whom he scored 20 goals in 84 appearances from 1997 to 1999.
AC Milan signed him in 2000 but he failed to settle in Italy and was signed by Villarreal in 2003. He scored just 15 goals in 113 appearances for the Villarreal in his renure at El Madrigal and was signed by Real Betis in the summer of 2007 on a one year deal.
