Chris Wood or Christopher Grant Wood is a New Zealand football player who plays as a striker for West Bromwich Albion, a Premier League club. He also plays for the New Zealand national football team. So far, he has made 12 international caps with his international debut being in 2009 against Tanzania.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Chris stands six feet three inches tall. Chris represented New Zealand at U-17 level and was a standout performer at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2007 for the Kiwi team. Post this tournament, Chris earned himself a trial with West Bromwich Albion FC, an English football club, with whom he signed deal with. Soon, he got noticed by Ricki Herbert and got placed in All Whites team for the Confederations Cup to be held in South Africa. He made his debut in a friendly match against Tanzania team.

In May 2010, he got named in the All Whites World cup squad, and at an early age of 18, he became the youngest member of the national team to have travelled to South Africa.

Career Highlights

Christopher team was the runner up team of the Football League Championship in 2009-10. Individually, he received the title of New Zealand U-20 men’s player of the year in 2008 and in 2009.
