Shane Smeltz

He has played for many Australian clubs prior to trying his luck in England in 2005 with Mansfield Town. Post playing for Halifax Town, an English side team, he joined AFC Wimbledon and played 61 matches which included 11 matches as a substitute, scoring 26 goals.
Shane has played for the senior New Zealand national teams prior to which he played in under 20 and under 23 teams too. His first game was for the All Whites team in 2006, against Chile, during which he became the first AFC Wimbledon player to have won international honor and also the first player to achieve the title of being an international goalscorer.
The following year in 2007, he became the scorer of both New Zealand goals in 2-2 draw match against Wales team. The same year, he made an impressive mark with Wellington Phoenix with amazing performances for All Whites team.
Standing six feet one inches tall, Shane plays as a striker often for the national team. The major teams that he played so far include the Gold Coast City, Brisbane Strikers, Napier City Rovers, Adelaide City, Adelaide United, Mansfield Town and AFC Wimbledon. He also played for Halifax Town, Wellington Phoenix, Gold Coast United and Gençlerbirliği.
