Leonida Christos Bertos> is a football player who plays for the New Zealand national football team. He also plays for the Wellington Phoenix team which is a New Zealand based A-League team as an attacking midfielder or even as a right winger. Till date, he has made 27 international caps with his first international match being with the Iran national football team in 2003.

Leo, as he is fondly known as, played for the Wellington Olympic team in the national domestic league from 1997 to 2000 and has made 48 appearances and 7 goals. He played for the Barnsley team for three seasons from 2000 to 2003, making 12 appearances and one goal. Other teams of which he was a part of include Rochdale, Chester City, Barrow, York City, Scarborough, Worksop Town, Perth Glory and many others.

In 2010, he was named as one of the 8 midfielders in the final 23 men squad to travel to the FIFA World Cup 2010 in the month of June. This squad played in many official warm up international matches against Serbia, Australia, Chile and Slovenia prior to the World Cup. Leo played in all of the three matches at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and performed exceptionally well earning the team with a 1-1- draw with Slovakia, a 1-1 draw with Italy and 0-0 final draw with Paraguay team.
