A football defender from Cruz Alta, Hector Luis Gaitan began playing football professionally with Newell’s Old Boys in 2007. His debut match was against Argentinos Juniors, which Newell’s won 1-0. Over the remaining season, Gaitan proved his mettle, and was soon as regular with the first team. His nickname, “Patadita”, stands for “Little Kick”, and is a result of his tendency to commit penalty kicks.
In 2009, Gaitan was loaned out to Bolivian club, Oriente Petrolero, and played his debut match against Real Mamore. So far the defender has made nearly 26 appearances for the club and has 6 goals to his credit. Gaitin is yet to receive an opportunity to play for the Argentinian national team.
