Gregory Kurtley van der Wiel is football player who features for French giants Paris Saint-Germain. He is a left-back and is known for his speedy runs on the pitch.
Van der Wiel is a product of the Ajax youth academy and made his first-team debut for the Dutch giants in 2007. He quickly established himself as a regular for the Eredivisie outfit and earned heaps of praise for his playing style and talent.
Van der Wiel played important roles in Ajax’s title triumph in the Eredivisie in 2010-11 and 2011-12. He also won the KNVB Cup with Ajax in 2007 and 2010.
He won the Dutch Young Player of the year in 2009-10 and the AFC Ajax Talent of the year in 2008-09. In 2010, Van der Wiel was awarded the Johan Cruijff Award for young player of the year in the Netherlands.
In the summer of 2012 Paris Saint-Germain came calling and Van der Wiel signed for the Parisian giants.
In 2009, Van der Wiel made his debut for the Netherlands in a friendly international against Tunisia. He was an integral part of the Dutch side that reached the final of the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa under coach Bert van Marwijk.
Van der Wiel also played for the Netherlands at the Euro 2012 finals.
