Fábio Alexandre da Silva Coentrão> is a Portuguese football player who presently plays for the Portuguese national football team and also for the Sport Lisboa e Benfica team. This left back also plays as a left winger and stands five feet ten inches tall.
As an international player for Portugal at youth level, Fabio was voted as MVP in 2007 Madeira Cup for the under 20s. He was also crowned as the top scorer of the competition and even made his under 21 debut whilst representing the nation in the FIFA under 21 World Cup in 2007. Fabio performed consistently well at Benfica, earning his first senior call up in November 2009 for the 2010 FIFA world cup qualification playoffs against Bosnia and Herzegovina. He made his debut in the first leg itself on the 14th playing the second half of the 1-0 victory at the Estadio da Luz.
Chosen for the 23 men squad of Carlos Queiroz for the final stages in South Africa, Fabio started as a left back well ahead of Duda. He also played in all of the matches and even displayed extremely well performance in the round of 16 exit.

Individually, Coentrao received the Second Division Breakthrough Player of the year in 2006-07 season, the Madeira Cup as the most valuable player in 2007, the Benfica Awards as the Breakthrough player of the year in 2009, the Portuguese League young player of the month in October 2009, March 2010 and in April 2010. Moreover, he even received the Portuguese League Breakthrough player of the year in 2009-10.
