FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi has finally threaded his way to China for the Olympics where he shall represent his nation Argentina.
There have been a certain dispute over his decision to play for his nation at Beijing as his club Barcelona were reluctant to release the player , who shall now return only in late August.
Barcelona finish outside the top two in Spain last season and shall have to play in the qualifying matches for the UEFA Champions League. These matches shall be held during August and Barca actually wanted to keep Messi with them for these vital fixtures.
But Messi has long expressed his desire to play at the Olympics and said,”I have always said I want to play for the national team and I want to thank the club for the way they have been with me.”
He has flown off to China after he played for Barcelona in a pre-season against Fiorentina in Florence.
