A cracking quarter-final line up in the Europa League and all eight remaining sides will fancy their chances of lifting the trophy.

For me the tie of the round is the Iberian clash between FC Porto and Sevilla and I rate the Spanish side the most likely to advance.

Porto host the La Liga outfit in the first leg on Thursday and I find odds on quotes about the home team a shade baffling.

The 2011 winners are miles off the scorching pace set by Benfica at the top of the domestic standings and the Europa League has very much become a priority for Luis Castro’s side.

Porto were poor in the Champions League this time around, winning just once in a relatively weak group before dropping into this, and there are enough reasons to oppose them at the prices.

Narrow wins in the knockout stage over Eintracht Frankfurt and Napoli were hardly convincing and Porto are certainly not the side that swept to the title with an unbeaten record last term.

Sevilla, in contrast, are riding high and very much have their eye on a top four finish in Spain, currently just six points adrift of Athletic Bilbao.

The win on their penultimate start clearly catches the eye, edging out Real Madrid in front of their own fans, but Sevilla can get a result on their travels too and are tipped to avoid defeat in the upcoming clash.

It was just one loss in 13 matches in all competitions on the road prior to the 1-0 reversal at Celta Vigo on the weekend and showed plenty of bottle to emerge unscathed from the previous round in the Europa League.

Sevilla trailed 2-0 from the first leg against fierce city rivals Real Betis before winning the return by the same score line and it was success from the penalty spot that saw them advance. That experience will stand them in good stead and they could just go all the way.
