Mata to United, still hunting for Luke Shaw

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Juan Mata from Chelsea for a club record fee believed to be around 37 million pounds.

United are also reportedly keen to make a huge offer for Southampton left back Luke Shaw who looks like the heir to the England left back slot.

A 23 million pound offer has been mooted for Shaw, who at his age would be a perfect signing for Manchester United.

However, the Red Devils will also face competition from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City for any prospective deal.

David Moyes realizes the importance of the current transfer window and has been actively trying to bring in players for whom he will most certainly face competition from other suitors in the summer window.

Moyes’ latest scouting mission saw him visiting Germany for the clash between Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach last evening.

Bayern eased to a 10 point lead at the top of the BundesLiga after a stellar show from Thomas Mueller.

It may be noted here that Moyes was with his assistants Steve Round and Phil Neville at the Allianz Arena and the contingent from Old Trafford were shown around by Toni Kroos’ agent who also sat beside the United boss during the game.

The pair were seen having an animated discussion during the game and with Kroos’ contract up at the end of next year, there is a possibility of a deal happening soon.

Kroos has so far rejected the offers that have been presented to him by Bayern and the Bavarians will be looking to cash in on a player who is a full German international rather than lose him for peanuts in the summer.

In the meanwhile, contrary to reports from the player on his Twitter handle, Mohammad Salah’s future is anything but sorted.

The Egyptian has been extensively scouted by Liverpool and is their primary transfer target for the present window.

Chelsea appeared to have stolen a march on their rivals when they announced a deal for the player, but it is anything but done after Liverpool threw a bumper package that appears to be too good to resist for the player. This one remains to be seen.

Lacina Traore’s transfer to Everton on loan has been confirmed while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gone back to his former club Molde to sign defender Jo Inge Berget for Cardiff in their latest transfer business.
