Has he still got what it takes to led his beloved Arsenal back into the run of success like he did almost a decade ago? The years of Bergkamp, Henry and Pires are now the Giroud’s, Ramsey’s, Gervinho’s. I could easily tell you who i would rather have in my team. With it now being 8 years without winning a trophy, what has gone wrong? The stadium costs?Bad signings?A bit of both really but one of the most outstanding factors is David Dein. The Former vice chairmen of arsenal was instrumental in the signings of Patrick Viera, Robin Van Perise, Theo Walcott as the list goes on. You could argue that none of the well scouted and cheaply bought players above have been made in the modern day since Dein’s departure in August 2007. Not being helped with the massive investment into the development of the brand spanking new Emirates stadium which clearly took massive chucks out of Wengers transfer budget over the past 8 years. Only a few you can find are excellent signings, players like Bendnter, Chamakh, Denilson, Santos, Squillaci have been very poor signings have been an Achilles heel for arsenals barren run of unsuccessful seasons without a trophy.
So what is the problem? The problem is without David Dein, Wenger is now mainly involved in transfers and their dealings, which is not Wengers specialty which has showed in the number of bad signings that have being made and with no one to stand against wengers stubborn ways, then nothing will change for arsenal. Which leaves things to Arsenal either resolving problems with David Dein for his return or hiring another member or the board or too see the back of the their most successful in their history manager Arsene Wenger? The latter now looks decisively more likley until a change in policy is made.
