Arjen Robben admits it’s a “special feeling” after netting the 89th minute winner in Bayern Munich’s 2-1 UEFA Champions League final triumph over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Robben, who has lost European finals with Bayern against Chelsea and Internazionale in recent years, scored the winner after getting on the end of Franck Ribery’s pass.
The Dutchman missed a penalty in last season’s final loss to Chelsea which was played at Bayern’s home stadium Allianz Arena, so he was evidently emotional after playing his part in this campaign’s glory.
“I can’t put it into words. I have so many emotions,” he said.
“My whole career went through my mind when I scored, it is such a special feeling you can’t describe it.
“You don’t want to be a loser every time, coming always in second place. We deserved to win it. I have dreamt about it many times. Everybody I spoke to before the game said it was our night and I had a great feeling.”
