Reborn Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has inked a new one-year deal with the Red Devils.
The 34-year-old central defender’s current deal was set to expire at the end of June but he has now agreed to a new contract.
“Sooooo happy to sign a 1yr extension for this great club, living the dream. Roll on next season #mufc,” Ferdinand tweeted.
Ferdinand produced an outstanding 2012-13 campaign with United, who were crowned league champions, while he was named in the PFA Team of the Season.
New United manager David Moyes said he was delighted to keep a character like Ferdinand at the club.
“It is clear for everyone to see that Rio has had one of his best seasons with the club and I think even from the outside you can see what a big character Rio is around the dressing room so I am delighted he has signed a new contract and I am looking forward to working with him,” Moyes said.
