Real Madrid defender Pepe has criticised his manager Jose Mourinho for disrespectful comments he made about overlooked goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
The Spanish giant’s boss, who is expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in the off-season, said this week he would’ve liked to have signed Diego Lopez to replace Casillas earlier in his tenure.
However, the comments left Real’s Portuguese defender disappointed.
“We have to have a bit more respect for Iker,” Pepe told Canal Plus.
“The boss’s quotes were not the most suitable. Iker is an institution - at this club and in Spain.
“He has to know that we [the players] and the fans are behind him.”
