Swansea vs. Man City: Premier League Betting Preview

Swansea have really struggled for Premier League form since their Capital One Cup triumph and look up against it versus Manchester City this weekend.

The Welsh club were magnificent at Wembley when thrashing League Two side Bradford 5-0 and then enjoyed a narrow victory over Newcastle in their very next top flight fixture.

However, that success in the first week of March was the Swans last in the Premier League and Michael Laudrup’s side are clearly looking forward to the end of term already.

Swansea have scored just four goals since that win over the Magpies, taking two points from six matches, and their usually excellent home form has deserted them.

For so long such a fortress, it is three games without a win at the Liberty Stadium and Saturday’s visitors will be confident of making that four.

Credit must go to Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini and his players for not throwing in the towel, despite having relinquished their Premier League crown, and City are all but booked for second spot thanks to a run of excellent results.

The late capitulation at Tottenham a fortnight ago was quickly forgotten with a 2-1 win over West Ham last time out and that was City’s ninth win in their previous 11 matches.

Six points ahead of Chelsea with just four rounds of games remaining, Mancini will be eager to secure the runners-up spot as soon as possible and I think his men warrant support in South Wales at around the 1.80 mark.

The 2-1 win at Old Trafford, thanks to Sergio Aguero’s late strike, banished any doubts they were a soft touch on the road and Swansea’s style of play should suit a City team that usually maintain possession with ease.

Swansea striker Michu, who has enjoyed such a brilliant debut season in England, remains a threat to any side but if City can keep the Spaniard quiet then three points are surely there for the taking and I think they’ll get them.
