Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has won praise from team-mates Xabi Alonso and Gonzalo Higuain after netting a decisive double in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in La Liga.
The Portuguese attacker was in brilliant form against Bilbao, netting on two and 68 minutes in the triumph which keeps Real 13 points behind leaders Barcelona and three points ahead of third-placed Atletico Madrid.
“We have a great player in Ronaldo,” Xabi Alonso said.
“He is so competitive. He wants to play every game and score as many goals he can.
“We got a great result tonight that lets us continue in second place.”
Ronaldo’s second goal in the win took his season tally to 50 strikes in all competitions.
CR7 also laid off for Gonzalo Higuain to score in the triumph and the Argentine praised his team-mate.
“Cristiano’s first goal put us on the way to victory,” Higuain said. “He’s in great form, and I hope he keeps it up for all of us.”
