Del Bosque: Finland Draw 'Unthinkable'

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque says his side’s 1-1 2014 World Cup qualifying draw with Finland was “unthinkakle” but admits his players lost control.

The European and world champions were cruising at 1-0 thanks to Sergio Ramos’ goal but couldn’t add a second and were made to pay when Teemu Pukki equalised for the Finns on 79 minutes.

“It seems impossible that we drew after dictating both halves of the game. We were organized, but everything went out of control in the end,” del Bosque said.

“We could have been more successful in front of goal, but we lacked the ability to add a second goal. Finland locked up their defense well, and made the unthinkable happen.”

Spain’s next World Cup qualifier is a difficult date with 1998 World Cup winners France.

“There are still four games to play, and four days to prepare [for France]. We still have a long way to go,” he said.
