Sergio Ramos admits his red card in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano was not normal although he was relieved to see it didn’t cost his side.
Alvaro Morata gave Real an early lead and Ramos added a second after just 12 minutes, before picking up two bookings in a matter of minutes to be red carded on 18 minutes.
“It isn’t normal that I’m sent off in two minutes,” said Ramos.
“I am not one to make harsh tackles with bad intentions. I’m sorry I left my teammates at a disadvantage.”
Morata, who was preferred to Karim Benzema, said he was delighted with his own impact and education at Real.
“We started the match well with two goals in the opening minutes, but then it’s always tough to play a man down,” Morata said.
“I’m playing with some of the best players in the world and learning little by little. I couldn’t ask for anything else.”
