Just days after stating the German Bundesliga title is Bayern Munich’s to lose, Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp insists his side’s 3-2 win over contenders Bayer Leverkusen was lucky.

Dortmund blew a two-goal lead, with Leverkusen coming from behind thanks to a Stefan Reinartz double, before Robert Lewandowski settled Sunday’s contest.

The result sees Dortmund leapfrog Leverkusen into second and continues their perfect form since the winter break, but remain 12 points behind Bayern.

“We got back at them following their equaliser and we even had the chance to make it 4-2, which shows strong morale,” Klopp said.

“We can definitely defend better than we did (yesterday) - I am sure of that. We are the lucky, but not undeserved winners.”

Klopp added: “It was really exciting. Both sides forced mistakes over the 90 minutes and there were so many twists. We’ve got to say that not many teams are going to come here and win.”
