Brazil international and AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato has agreed to join Club World Cup winners Corinthians according to the player’s agent.
The talented 23-year-old has also been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool as he seeks to find regular football at a new club after battling a run of injuries but according to his agent Gilmar Veloz he has decided to return to his homeland.
“Pato has chosen Corinthians,” Veloz told Sky Sport 24. “Since he decided to return to Brazil, Corinthians was the first choice.”
It is believed, AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani had spent time in Brazil over the Christmas period to facilitate the move which was occur during the January transfer window.
“I understood Pato needed to leave to experience another club and he chose Corinthians. And Galliani understood his reasons,” Veloz said.
“Corinthians have welcomed him well, and they are doing everything possible to help [Pato] settle in. There are still some details to be resolved between the two clubs. But it is not for me to speak what exactly they are.”
Pato has only managed seven appearances for Milan in all competitions in 2012-13, scoring twice, while he battled injury last term making only 18 appearances and netting four times.
