Inter Milan boss Andrea Stramaccioni says his side deserved better for a “great second-half performance” after going down 1-0 to Lazio in Italy’s Serie A on Saturday.
The Nerazzurri lost ground on leaders Juventus, who play at home to Atalanta on Sunday, while they saw the third-placed Romans move to within one point of them.
Stramaccioni said Inter had put in a great secnod-half performance but was disappointed to end up without anything after Miroslav Klose’s winner.
“[Lazio] played better in the first half. They put us under pressure, even though we suffered little,” he told reporters. “During the second half, we gave a great performance. We deserved a goal, but this is football.
“Did we defend poorly for the goal? We made a mistake in the first phase of play, but you just have to compliment him.”
Lazio boss Vladimir Petkovic was full of praise for match-winner Klose, who had missed a simple chance moments before his decisive strike.
“I always say that the team works for Klose just as he works for the team by scoring goals. He is a great champion and puts his qualities at the disposal of the squad,” he said.
“It’s true he missed a great chance, but these things can happen, just as Inter hit the upright twice tonight.”
