Inter Milan boss Andrea Stramaccioni says his side were “almost perfect” in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over title contenders Napoli which kept the Nerazzurri four points behind leaders Juventus in Serie A.
Fredy Guarin and Diego Milito scored first-half goals which ultimately decided the contest, despite Edinson Cavani’s 54th minute strike which ensured the match was tense until the end.
However, Stramaccioni was delighted with his side’s performance.
“Tonight we came up against a great Napoli side. For us to win this match required an almost perfect performance from us,” he said.
The result sees Inter leapfrog Napoli, who drop to third but boss Walter Mazzarri wasn’t too downbeat.
“I’m happy with the way my players played, they came out more positively in the second half and we created several chances that we should have put away,” he said.
“If we continue to play like this, I’m sure we’ll win a lot more matches.”
Juventus remained top after a 1-0 win at Palermo courtesy of Stephan Lichsteiner’s strike, while AC Milan made it three wins in a row with a 4-2 triumph at Torino which lifts them up to seventh.
