Redknapp 'Embarrassed' By QPR Four-Point Haul

New QPR boss Harry Redknapp says his players need to stop playing the blame game and take responsibility to get themselves out of the drop zone after claiming just four points from 13 league games.

New QPR boss Harry Redknapp says his players need to stop playing the blame game and take responsibility to get themselves out of the drop zone after claiming just four points from 13 league games.

Redknapp was unveiled as the new Rangers boss on Saturday after Mark Hughes was given the chop following an awful start to the campaign.

QPR had enjoyed a big off-season spending spree, including the recruitment of Park Ji-Sung, Robert Green, Fabio da Silva, Ryan Nelsen, Jose Bosingwa, Julio Cesar, Andy Johnson and Junior Hoilett, however they are looking likely for the drop after a third of the campaign.

However, former Tottenham, Portsmouth and West Ham boss Redknapp has now arrived and is intent on saving them. He’s already made his mark, slamming his new side’s embarrassing season so far.

“Four points is embarrassing. How can you have four points from 13 games?,” he asked.

“Players who aren’t playing will blame those who are playing. Those who are playing will blame somebody else. It’s up to me to make my own decisions over what’s wrong with them and what needs doing.”

The Rs remain winless however Redknapp, who watched over Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Manchester United without taking charge, will have an opportunity to end that run when they take on Sunderland on Tuesday.

“I need 11 people with ability to put effort in. If they don’t, they’re not going to play and I’ll get 11 who do,” Redknapp said.

“I’m looking for people to graft and work. I’ve got no time for people who lose the ball and throw their hands up in the air or stand around with their hands on their hips. We are in a relegation battle and we need to win a game.

“The fans will get behind us at home and make it an intimidating place if we put the effort in. If they see people chasing, working, running and closing down, they will get behind us.

“If they see people losing the ball and standing around, they will get the hump. Something is lacking. You can’t have four points from 13 games and think things are right. We need effort and we need people to have a go.”
