SAF Admits Man Utd Off The Pace

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he is concerned by the club’s unconvincing start to the 2012-13 Premier League season after Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he is concerned by the club’s unconvincing start to the 2012-13 Premier League season after Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham.

The Red Devils are currently third with 12 points from six games, however they were unconvincing and fortunate in victories over Southampton and Liverpool in recent weeks.

“You have to be concerned losing goals the way we did against Tottenham,” Ferguson told The Telegraph.

“We were well off the pace of the game and I don’t think we won a tackle in the first half. Based on our first half against Southampton, the first half at Liverpool and first half on Saturday, we have some work to do in that respect.

“I think it will be the last time it happens. Fortunately, you saw the real Manchester United in the second half against Spurs, and that 45 minutes was probably our best performance of the season. But after the first half on Saturday I had plenty of concerns.”

United’s next clash is a midweek Uefa Champions League encounter with CFR Cluj before they take on Newcastle in the league on Sunday.
