Tim Cahill To Join New York

Everton’s Australia international Tim Cahill appears set to move to the United States to sign with MLS outfit New York Red Bulls.

The Socceroos attacker managed only two goals in the league last term for the Toffees and Everton boss David Moyes is now willing to let him go, despite previously admitting he was one of his best ever signings.

Cahill, 32, has been linked with a move to the Middle East during this off-season, but appears set to join Thierry Henry’s New York for a nominal fee of around £1.5 million, with his departure to free up cash on the salary list for Steven Pienaar.

“Everton have agreed with Major League Soccer (MLS) that Tim Cahill can be transferred to the New York Red Bulls,” an Everton statement read.

“Tim, 32, will move to the Red Bulls for a nominal fee, subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. He will travel to the US in the next few days.”
