Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed his interest in Inter Milan and Real Madrid target Lucas Moura.
The 19-year-old Brazilian prospect is currently on the books of Sao Paulo but is in hot demand from a series of top European clubs, with some reports claiming United had sealed a deal for him worth ÂŁ26 million.
However, Ferguson confirmed that story was not true but made it clear the club were interested in Moura.
“It’s not correct,” Ferguson told reporters on the club’s pre-season tour in hina. “We haven’t reached an agreement for the player. We’ve shown an interest but until such time we get a deal agreed we can’t say he’s our player.”
He added: “We’ve signed two players in the summer: Kagawa and Powell. We think they both have fantastic potential.
“At this moment we’re looking at other options in terms of bringing other players in. We’re not lying on our backsides doing nothing. We’re trying hard to bring other players to the club.”
