Manchester United has confirmed it has agreed to a deal with Borussia Dortmund’s Japanese star Shinji Kagawa for approximately £16 million pending him obtaining a UK work permit and passing a medical.
The 23-year-old won back-to-back titles with Dortmund in Germany’s Bundesliga after making the move to Europe from Japanese outfit Cerezo Osaka.
On the Red Devils club website, a statement read: “Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed terms with both Borussia Dortmund and Shinji Kagawa for his transfer to the Club.
“The deal is subject only to the player medical and obtaining a UK work permit. These conditions are anticipated to be completed by the end of June. Further details will be announced in due course.”
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said in a BVB statement: “We thank Shinji for his efforts and for playing a big part in our two extraordinary successful seasons with two championships and one cup-win. We wish him all the best for his future.”
Rio Ferdinand wrote on Twitter: “Welcome to Shinji Kagawa for his transfer to Man Utd. heres to a succesful time here bro!”
