The position of Inter Milan coach Claudio Ranieri has been vulnerable since the past few weeks as Inter have lost seven out their previous eight games in all competitions.
60-year-old Ranieri has been under intense pressure to resign from his managerial position as Inter have slipped to the seventh spot in the Italian Serie A standings after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Napoli.
But Ranieri insists that âhe will not resignâ because he believes in his team and he is sure that his side will be back sooner rather than later.
âWe lost, but at the same time we have the strength and the energy to start winning again,â said Ranieri about the chances of his teamâs comeback.
And the surprising fact is that nobody at the club is coming forward to interrogate or hold showdown talks with the former Chelsea coach.
Inter President Massimo Moratti hinted yesterday that the managerâs position was safe after he held talks with Ranieri and had âcleared up thingsâ for the time being.
It may be a case that Moratti wants his club to go with Ranieri till the end of the season as it would be difficult to settle down for a potential new manager with less than three months of football action left in this yearâs campaign.
And a review at the end of the season could lead to Ranieriâs sacking eventually if he fails to bring up his team in the next two months. But Inter may have to pay the price for the risk of holding on to their current manager.
The Nerazzurri have already distanced themselves from a Champions League qualification spot and an absence from European football next season could seriously affect revenues at the blue-half of San Siro, while also leading to the sale of star players like Wesley Sneijder.
