If the highly respected Italian sports daily Il Corriere Dello Sport is to be trusted, then Marcelo Lippi has already decided to return to the Italian national team set-up. The sports daily reports that the 2006 Germany World Cup winning coach with FIGC president Giancarlo Abete in Rome and has confirmed that he shall coach the Azzurri once again.
The move is a much anticipated one in the aftermath of the disastrious performance of the Italian national side in the ongoing Euro 2008 finals when they were knocked out of the last 8 stage by Spain after barely managing to creep into the last 8.
Coach Roberto Donadoni has been severely criticised in the Italian media as there was a massive campaign by the Italian media in support of the sacking of Donadoni.
The Italian football federation, FIGC, have almost decided to turn Donadoni out and reinstate Marcelo Lippi who guided Italy to a historic 2006 Germany World Cup trimph and resigned soon afterwards.
It has now been revealed that Lippi has decided to re-take the coaching post and this implies that later this week FIGC shall present Donadoni with the sack.
