EPL 2011: Queens Park Rangers v Manchester United Player Ratings (QPR)

Radek Cerny – 8 Was kept busy all afternoon by the defending champions who had it easy at Loftus Road.

Radek Cerny – 8 Was kept busy all afternoon by the defending champions who had it easy at Loftus Road. Made some wonderful saves in the afternoon, however, one feels that he should have done better with the second goal.

Luke Young – 7.5 Did a commendable job defensively against Nani, who asked plenty of questions off the full back. Was present in a few QPR attacks as well – a major positive for the home team.

Matthew Connolly – 5.5 Was at fault for Wayne Rooney’s 52nd second opener which put the tie to rest. Was exposed on a number of times by Manchester United’s attackers and had to depend on his defensive partners to protect him when the need arose.

Danny Gabbidon – 7 Was a pretty good game for him if I am honest. He did a good job at the back for QPR. Protected his area pretty well and did extremely well to deny Danny Welbeck when he was clean through on goal with only the keeper to beat.

Armand Traore – 7.5 Defeensively, Traore should have done much better as he hardly picked up Antonio Valencia in the game. Even when he did that, Valencia ran past him and crossed in as if he was not there on the park. As far as attack is concerned, Traore was exceptional on the afternoon. Asked plenty of questions off United.

Jamie Mackie – 8.5 Was the only player in the QPR lineup who looked like the real deal on Sunday afternoon. Patrice Evra would have been astonished at coming out unscathed against this lad. Had it not been for some woeful play in the final third from QPR, this guy would have been man of the match.

Joey Barton – 4 Was lost in the park. Allowed Carrick to run past him for the second goal. A match that he would want to forget in quick time.

Alejandro Faurlin – 8 The Argentine oozed class from the very outset. Found the players that e intended to with his flawless passing and vision. Was partly responsible for United’s second.

Shaun Wright Philips – 6 Lively in the first half, but he faded away in the second half. Signals of a burnout here from the former England international.

Jay Bothroyd – 6 Did not work hard for his team and failed to do well individually to compensate as well. Should have worked a bit harder to be honest, I mean, he is not Dimitar Berbatov now!

Heidar Helguson – 6.5 Apart from the first half header off a corner that sailed wide, I do not remember him getting a shot at goal to trouble De Gea. Worked hard though and full marks for trying. The United defenders were just too good for him.

Substitutes

DJ Campbell (65th) – 4.5 A blatant miss from Campbell when he failed to convert from 4 yards out. Poor game by his standards.

Adel Taarabt (65th) – 7.5 Brilliant quality on display while he was on the park. Needs to keep his attitude back home if he wants to make a name in the Premier League.

Clint Hill – N/A Not enough time to make a meaningful impact on the game.
