Premiership club Blackburn Rovers have created a landmark by appointing Paul Ince as their new manager. The former England international striker becomes the first black Englishman to manage a top flight English football club.
Ince has never managed a top flight club before and doesn’t even have the necessary licence to do so. But he has been granted a dispensation and shall manage Blackburn from next season on a three-year contract.
Paul Ince also became the first black Englishman to captain the England national football team when he was given the captain’s armband for England’s 1993 tour of the USA. He has managed only two clubs before now, Macclesfield and MK Dons. He guided Macclesfield to League Two safety and then led MK Dons from League One to the Championship.
Ince was one of the best strikers England have ever had and it is expected that he shall prove himself in the managerial arena too. At leastBlackburn Rovers would be severely hoping that he does!
