Sports Pundit's Fantasy Premier League Round-up

With one game to play in the English Premier League season it’s time to use your final transfer – if you’ve got one left – to try and finish the season off on a high.

Star Players Carlos TevezManchester City – striker – 21m; 11 points The Argentine striker, who reportedly may head off to Italy or Spain next season, is one of our favourites in this section. When you notice he’s pulled in 147 points this season then you know why. Tevez’s latest score of 11 points comes thanks to a double in Man City’s 3-0 win over Stoke, which came just days after they ended their trophy drought in the FA Cup. No hangover. Always the professional, we salute you Carlitos!

Brede HangelandFulham – defender – 6.1m; 16 points The big Norwegian defender landed two trademark blows for the Cottagers in their 2-0 win at Birmingham City. Fulham’s defence is typically tight so Hangeland isn’t the worst buy you could have in your side. And when he comes up for corners or set-pieces he’s always a threat. Good value.

Charles N’ZogbiaWigan – midfielder – 11m; 11 points Here he is again, one of our favourites. N’Zogbia was the game winner for Wigan in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over West Ham. First he struck a wonderful free-kick to bring it back to 2-1, before landing the winner deep into stoppage-time. He does this kind of thing all the time and at good value.

Disappointments

luis suarez liverpool

Luis SuarezLiverpool – striker – 20.5m; 0 points We’d been singing Suarez’s praises on here for weeks as Liverpool’s stocks rose in recent times. Finally it seemed a number of fantasy coaches had made their move for the Uruguayan only for him to deliver a score of zilch. The yellow card he received in the Reds’ 2-0 loss to Tottenham hardly helped.

Gary CahillBolton – defender – 4.9m; -4 points The English defender is quite the popular player when it comes to fantasy football. In fact Cahill is owned by 5 per cent of coaches, but they wouldn’t have enjoyed seeing him let in four goals against lowly Blackpool. Ouch!

Maxi RodriguezLiverpool – midfielder – 17.1m; 2 points Maybe it’s a bit harsh to throw Maxi in the disappointments category this week but after an unbelievable couple of games a few coaches did jump on board. The Argentine failed to fire in Liverpool’s 2-0 home loss to Tottenham.

Special mentions

Goalkeepers Scott CarsonWest Bromwich – 4.8m; 7 points (clean sheets always help, but he’s getting more under Roy Hodgson) Mark SchwarzerFulham – 7.6m; 7 points (let in five last week, this week he keeps a clean sheet) Carlo CudiciniTottenham – 9m; 7 points (safer than Gomes it seems) rafael van der vaart tottenham Defenders Joleon LescottManchester City – 6.9m; 11 points (goal and a clean sheet) George ElokobiWolverhampton – 4.2m; 9 points (scored a rare goal) Midfielders Youssuf Mulumbu – West Bromwich – 9.5m; 9 points (providing late season points) Rafael van der VaartTottenham – 17.8m; 8 points (one of our favourites) Strikers DJ CampbellBlackpool – 12m; 11 points (two goals, great return from popular fantasy player) Darren BentAston Villa – 17.8m; 11 points (great return)

Harry Redknapp – Tottenham – 10m; 5 points (never doubt ‘Arry) Roberto Mancini – Manchester City – 10m; 5 points (can finish a big week with third place)
