Rwanda qualified to the finals of Cecafa tournament by beating Tanzania 2-1 in the second semifinal. The win means that Rwanda will meet Uganda in Sunday’s final at the Nyayo National Stadium while Tanzania will play against Zanzibar for the 3rd and 4th position.
Taking a looking at Rwanda’s past performance in Cecafa, they have won the tournament only once. The memorable triumph coming in style ten years ago when they hosted the tournament for the first time in their home soil.
On the other hand, Uganda is the most successful team in Cecafa, they have won the tournament a record 10 times and they are the defending champions.
Although Rwanda will be considered the under dogs due to their inferior head to head comparison, the Uganda Cranes wont take their opponents for granted, lest they live to regret
The only time Uganda has meet Rwanda in the Cecafa final was in 2003, where the Ugandans emerged the winners by two goals. On Sunday when the Cecafa’s curtain falls, Rwanda will either assert their revenge and break the long wait for another title or Uganda will continue showing their football dominance, in the East and Central African region.
