Although it was almost inevitable that Avram Grant faces the axe at the end of the 2007-2008 season from Chelsea, the news has still managed to send a ripple of shockwaves across the footballing world.
So maybe we could spare a few minuted to know the reaction of Grant himself. The Israeli was appointed as the new manager of Chelsea in September when Jose Mourinho was sacked as the manager of Chelsea.
Although Grant led the London Blues to the final of the UEFA Champions League which they lost to Manchester United only on penalties, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich though he hasve had enough of the Israeli and decided to get rid of the man on Saturday.
British tabloid “The News Of The World” claims to have heard from friends of Avram Grant that the man is tremenous angry with the sacking and also quotes the Israeli as saying that he felt betrayed by the men who he tried to save.
Grant is said to have told his friends:
“I took on the job at a very difficult time but Chelsea have pulled the plug on me. I feel very hurt, upset and angry.”
A close friend of Grant is quoted as saying:
“Avram said he doesn’t trust them any more.
“It was not a friendly meeting at all. Avram does not want anything to do with the club now. He didn’t even want to discuss his compensation, which will run into millions. He told Roman to speak to his lawyer.”
So this love story, like most other love stories, have turned sour.
