Real Madrid midfielder Kaka has revealed that club teammate and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo fears for his nation’s place at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa next summer.
Portugal have garnered a playoff spot for themselves on Wednesday after winning their final qualifier in the European zone and now have a good chance of making it through to the finals next summer. But at one point they were in real danger of missing out.
Brazilian international midfielder Kaka now says that Ronaldo is afraid that they might miss out on qualification for the megaevent in the summer. He told AS:
“Cristiano is afraid of not going to the World Cup, like all Portuguese. After winning these two games, they have improved their situation and are able to go into the play-offs.”
