Premier League side Liverpool are ready to part company with one of their most prized assets Xabi Alonso but only at the right price, according to latest reports.
Madrid-based sports daily AS reports that Liverpool want 35 million euros in cash for the Spanish international from Real Madrid and another 5 million based on the player’s performance for the Blancos in 2009-2010.
Madrid president Florentino Perez is a huge admirer of the 27-year-old and has made no secret of the fact that his compatriot is a player he wants to sign this summer. Liverpool, though, have been resisting all offers from Madrid until now as it currently appears that with Alonso’s reported handing in of a transfer request, Rafael Benitez has no option but to sell the Basque to Madrid.
