Togolese international striker Emmanuel Adebayor is moving closer to securing a contract with Premier League club Manchester City, according to reports.

Sky Sports reports that Manchester City and Arsenal are close to agreeing on a 22 million pound deal and all that now remains is the player’s consent. It is believed that Man City are eager to pay the 25-year-old a whooping 170,000 pounds per week, about half of what he gets paid at Arsenal at the moment.
Adebayor has been in poor form in 2008-2009 after a sensational 2007-2008 campaign in which he scored 24 goals in the Premier League. Several of Arsenal fans themselves have got fed up with Adebayor and want him to leave the Emirates.
