Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly on the verge of lauching a 48 million euro bid for the Chelsea custodian Petr Cech. Milan’s first choice goalkeeper Nelson Dida is out of contract at the end of the current season and Milan seek a replacement.
Last week Cech’s agent Pavel Zika was quoted in the Czech newspaper Pravo as saying that there are clubs who are eager to splash out as much as 30 million euros for the highly rated Czech international custodian. At the time, it was thought that this was a flier to increase Cech’s wage at Stamford Bridge.
But the speculation by the Italian press that indeed Milan are eager to land the player seem to prove Zika’s point. Although Milan have the financial muscle and the pedigree, it would still be hard for Milan to convince Cech to leave Chelsea.
After all, Chelsea are in the final of this season’s UEFA Champions League while under the current circumstances, Milan wouldn’t even qualify for the competition next season.
